Is This You?

Who Is This For?

Who This Is For:

  • You're a Director, Principal Engineer or VP at a big tech company in California, earning $500K or more a year.
  • Most of your pay comes from RSUs, and more shares vest every quarter.
  • Your company usually withholds a flat 22% on each vest, and April still brings a balance due you never saw coming.
  • Years of vesting have left most of your net worth in one stock.
  • You're thinking about moving to Texas or Florida while you still have unvested RSUs.
  • Your preparer files your return every spring but never plans anything before December 31st.
  • You want the work handled for you, from the first projection to the filed return.

This Is Not For:

  • Anyone earning under $500K a year.
  • People whose equity is a small part of their pay and whose withholding already covers the bill.
  • Anyone who wants us to pick which stocks to buy, hold or sell.
  • Anyone who only wants a return prepared once a year.

100% Done-For-You

Here's Everything We Do For You

How Jesse's team of Enrolled Agents plans your equity all year and files the return.

We Map Every Share You Hold

We gather your grant agreements, vest schedule, brokerage lots and recent returns, and build a picture of every share you hold and every vest still coming.

We Project Each Vest Before It Lands

We project this year and the next several, including the withholding gap on each vest, then set your estimated payments so April stops being a surprise.

We Plan How You Sell Down

If you decide to sell that one big position, we map the tax cost of spreading the sales across several years, with lot selection, holding periods and any 10b5-1 schedule modeled first.

We Plan Your Move Out Of California

If you're leaving for Texas or Florida, we map your workdays between grant and vest, time the move around your vest schedule and document your residency so it holds up.

We Meet With You Every Quarter

New grants, refreshes and stock price moves change the picture, so we revisit your plan through the year and the next vest is already accounted for.

We File Your Returns Ourselves

The same team that plans your year prepares your return, corrects the cost basis on every lot so nothing gets taxed twice, and handles any part-year California filing.

On The Record

Does It Actually Work?

“
I was planning to move out of California with a large stack of unvested equity and had no idea the state could still tax a slice of it after I left. Roadmap timed my vesting and my residency the right way and saved me well into six figures. The planning paid for itself many times over.

“
After years at a public tech company, most of my net worth had quietly ended up in one stock. Not because I chose it, just because the RSUs kept vesting. Roadmap built a multi-year plan to unwind the position on my terms without triggering a capital-gains disaster. For the first time I feel like I'm actually deciding instead of avoiding it.

“
My company withheld the standard supplemental rate on my RSUs, so every April I got blindsided by a five-figure bill I never saw coming. Roadmap showed me exactly why it kept happening, got my estimates dialed in, and made the surprises stop. Now I keep more of what I actually earn.

“
My old firm filed my return once a year and vanished until the next one. Roadmap meets with me every quarter, catches opportunities before deadlines close, and actually knows my full picture. In two years they've saved me more than my last CPA did in ten. That's the difference between a preparer and a strategist.

Frequently Asked Questions

My preparer already files my taxes. Why would I need a strategist?+
A preparer reports the year you already had, and by then your vests have happened and your shares have been sold or held. A strategist works on the year while it's still open, which matters most when you're paid in RSUs. With us, the team that plans your year is the same team that files your return.
Why do I owe in April when my employer already withheld on my RSUs?+
Your vests count as wages, and employers usually withhold a flat 22% for federal tax on them. At your income, the rate you actually owe is higher, so every vest leaves a gap that shows up when you file. We project that gap before each vest and set your estimated payments to close it.
Will you tell me to sell my company stock?+
No. We show you what selling, holding or giving shares away would cost in each year, so whatever you choose, you choose it knowing the number. The investment decision belongs to you and your financial advisor, and we're glad to work alongside yours.
If I move to Texas or Florida, will California still tax my RSUs?+
Often, yes, for part of them. California generally taxes an RSU by the share of your workdays between grant and vest that you spent working there. We time the move around your vest schedule, help you document residency so it holds up, and file any part-year or nonresident California return for you.
Is it too late to lower my 2026 taxes?+
No, but the calendar matters. Most of what changes your 2026 bill has to be done by December 31st, and each vest before then widens the gap, so the sooner we start, the more of this year we can still use. The savings show up when your 2026 return is filed.
How much does it cost?+
Ongoing work runs through our Tax Strategy Subscription, which starts at $300 a month plus a $3,000 setup fee. It covers tax transcript analysis, your tax preparation and extensions, quarterly planning meetings and year-round access to your dedicated team.
Who will I actually work with?+
Jesse Lipscomb, an Enrolled Agent licensed by the IRS who has run Roadmap Tax Services since 2015, and his team of tax strategists, who are Enrolled Agents too. You get year-round access to that team, and you meet with them every quarter.
What happens on the strategy call?+
Jesse asks about your salary and bonus, what has vested and what's still scheduled to vest, the shares you're holding and whether you plan to stay in California. You'll leave knowing roughly where you're overpaying and which fixes still count for 2026, and if we can't help, he'll tell you plainly.
One Last Step

Want To Know What Your Vests Will Cost You Before April?

On the strategy call, Jesse looks at your pay, your vest schedule, the shares you hold and any move you're planning. You'll leave knowing where you're overpaying and which fixes still count for 2026.
